CONCERTS FOR SCHOOLS

The LES DÉCOUVERTES concerts are held for schools on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during school hours, before the public performance. The concerts, which last a maximum of 55 minutes, are open to all school classes in the canton of Vaud upon application. The concerts can be held in schools and are lively, creative and informative, providing students with a unique introduction to classical music and a masterpiece from the orchestral repertoire. An educational resource kit is also available for each performance.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE OCL

Fifth grade Harmos classes and above have the opportunity to attend an orchestra rehearsal and find out what happens backstage. Students who take part in this rich and enjoyable experience will discover the life and mission of the OCL and learn about the work of the musicians, the conductor and the soloists. The OCL also offers information sessions in combination with rehearsal visits to raise students’ awareness of what working as a musician means and to provide an overview of what is involved in managing and organizing an orchestra’s concert season.

MEETINGS WITH TEACHERS

The OCL hopes to develop new ways of reaching out to young people. It is the duty of institutions like ours to give everyone, in particular young audiences, the widest possible access to culture. We are particularly keen to foster communication with teachers in order to provide the best outreach to schools, create varied and suitable programs and develop educational resources. Meetings with teachers are held the first Tuesday in September of each school year at 5pm for a panel discussion involving the different cultural institutions of the canton of Vaud, including the OCL.
