The LES DÉCOUVERTES concerts are held for schools on the Tuesday afternoon and the Wednesday morning before the public performance, during school hours. The concerts, which last a maximum of 55 minutes, are open to all school classes in the canton of Vaud upon application. The concerts are lively, creative and informative, providing students with a unique introduction to classical music and a masterpiece from the orchestral repertoire.

Teachers can prepare those concerts in advance with educational resource kits, available upon request for each performance. Those kits present all the necessary information concerning the classical concert’s codes, the works that will be performed, the composers, the comedians, the chief as well as a description of a chamber orchestra (instruments, specificities, arrangement). They are made to be directly given to the students.

For Season 2019-2020, the only seats left are for the Concert Découvertes 4 of Wednesday May 20th (4-7 years old)

One of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne’s major mission is to enable classical music access to as many teenagers and children of the of the Canton de Vaud as possible. In addition to the concerts for schools held at the salle Métropole, the OCL goes back to school to meet the students directly where they are. Instead of moving in its entirety, the orchestra offers small concerts in reduced composition to the cities of less than 5’000 inhabitants, where the cultural activities are rarer.

Here’s a preview with our show Jankó le petit haricot from season 2018/2019 :

Each season, a class of gymnasians is selected to accompany the musicians on tour in Switzerland or abroad. Unforgettable experiences during which the gymnasians are lucky enough to share the day-to-day life of an orchestra. Visits of mythical concert halls (example: the Vienna Konzerthaus), lodging with the musicians and common meals, everything is thought to enlarge the cultural horizon of these teenagers. They realize the demanding aspects of a musician’s life and they also get to know the structure which rules an orchestra as well as the essential role of the administration team.
